Schedule

State law requires teens to attend 30 hours of Classroom instruction. Classes at Roosevelt will be offered 10 school days in a row, Monday–Friday, after school from 3:20–6:20 p.m. Choose which session to attend:

  • Fall Session: October 19–30, 2026
  • Winter Session: January 25–February 8, 2027
  • Spring Session: March 15–26, 2027

You are allowed to miss up to two classes during your Roosevelt session and make them up at another one of our locations: either our Richfield in-person classroom (6603 Queen Ave) or through our online classes. Our classes are numbered 1–10. To make up a class you will need to log into your Elite Student Portal, look at our class calendar, and sign up for the class topic (1–10) that matches the topic you missed.

Student Responsibilities

Obtaining a driver’s license and driving a car is a privilege that comes with serious responsibility. Students must follow these expectations to attend and pass this class:

  • Respect the instructor and the guidelines for the classroom.
  • Attend every class session, be on time and fully engaged.
  • No phone use during class.

Failure to follow these expectations may result in removal from class at the discretion of the instructor and Community Education staff. Class fees will not be refunded if a student is removed from class or does not complete the 30 hours of classes.

What You’ll Learn

Each lesson builds on the previous one, taking you from basic skills to road test readiness. Lesson topics are adjusted based on each student’s needs.

Lesson 1

Covers basic entry level skills and lays the groundwork for the precision of the road test. Includes lane changes, stops, turns, clearing intersections, and a lot of parking.

Lesson 2

Expands upon the skills learned in lesson 1 to apply them to more complicated situations like increased traffic and speed. Includes introduction to freeways, sign recognition, enhanced vision skills, parking, lane changes at speed, and clearing intersections.

Lesson 3

A challenging lesson designed to prepare students for the road test, and to prepare students to make independent decisions when they get their license. Includes one-ways, unmarked lanes, left turns on green, traffic flow, downtown traffic, clearing intersections, and more parking practice if time allows.
